Need for Furious Transporter to the Future

My piece is a “street race” between characters from Fast and Furious, Need for Speed, The Transporter, and Back to the Future. I wanted to combine these different racers from different movies in a somewhat seamless fashion to make them appear they are racing each other. Ultimately it was challenging to do perfectly, so there are flaws, such as the scenes from The Transporter taking place in daylight. Instead I tried to tie it more together with the opening sequence to help the illusion of it all being in one place. I also wanted two of the racers to have to drop out of the race for various reasons. The Transporter gets blown away on a jump and decides to quit and Marty from Back to the Future ends up vanishing while time traveling, leaving the remaining two movies to duke it out. I feel like it’s fitting as Need for Speed and Fast and Furious are more of street racing movies anyways, so the small story arc of the race concludes on that note.

I also enjoyed mixing in a bit of Loony tunes and Matrix soundtracks to change the mood of the race at certain points or to emphasize drama. I felt this was okay under the rules considering all music used in this project was cinematic music pulled from films (or video games).

Lastly, I feel given more time and knowledge I could improve this project further if I wished. I spent a lot of time watching tutorials on YouTube to figure out edits I wanted to do. Some of these edits required lots of experimentation, and others simply did not work out the way I wanted. Sometimes even just using Premiere felt hindering. I have been playing with different video editing programs for years now, and I will say Premiere feels powerful, but sometimes it is also unnecessarily complicated to make it do what I wanted it to do. Hindsight is 20/20, but given time to adjust and learn the program more would have helped a lot.
